Small House Big World

In March of 2015, I left Chicago and hit the road full-time in a 1993 Pace Arrow RV with my boyfriend Kelly. In February of 2016, Kelly and I decided to amicably part ways, but I didn’t want to give up the RV lifestyle I’d come to love, so I decided to GO ROGUE and go solo! This site is meant to be a journal of my adventures as a full time traveler.  For more about me, check here

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Finding the Right Job March 19, 2015 Before I delve into this subject, I would like to put a disclaimer here: I do not have some miracle solution for finding the right job. I am by no means an expert. If anything, the opposite is true:  I think I made some errors along the way in trying to choose a career, and I have learned a ... Read More...
  • Joining an RV Membership Club February 26, 2015 We decided to do some research on if we should join an RV membership club of some sort before we set off. There are a ton out there, but we see a few repeatedly recommended to us that we felt were worth checking into. Below I will go through what I came across in my research, along ... Read More...
  • What if we Just Keep Going? February 25, 2015 Kelly and I happened upon the idea of full time RV living while on a camping trip one weekend in April 2014. I grew up going on camping trips with my family, mostly in Michigan. Kelly had never gone camping and it was high on my list of things to do to take him. I knew he ... Read More...
  • How We Insured Our RV & Car February 24, 2015 I purchased a car about a year and a half ago. A 2005 Honda Accord. If I haven’t mentioned, I LOVE to drive. Having a car in Chicago was something people warned me not to do – parking is a pain, you really won’t use it that much, it’s expensive, etc. These things are all somewhat ... Read More...
  • Budget Estimate February 24, 2015 How much money will it take for 2 people, 2 cats and one incredibly handsome dog to live comfortably full time in an RV? Important question. Even more important now that I know I am no longer going to have steady income. Kelly and I have been furiously budgeting and trying to make sure we plan our ... Read More...
  • Spring 2015 Plans, Version 2 February 23, 2015 Our departure date from Ann Arbor has moved up to April 1st, and as such we need to haul tail down south so we can get this pink goo out of our RV’s veins. We had two criteria.  1) Get warm.  2) Don’t go too far east or west.   We aim to be in northern ... Read More...
  • Live from Chicago! February 21, 2015 is now live and ready to be shared with whomever may care to view it! Exciting? Sure. But the only word that keeps running through my mind is: HORRIFYING. Suddenly I am no longer writing for an audience of 1 (Hi Kelly). Now, this post can be seen by everyone who stops by (Hi EVERYONE!!!). Talk about stage ... Read More...
  • There’s Treasure Everywhere February 16, 2015 Kelly and I are slightly obsessed with thrift store shopping. It feels a lot like treasure hunting; there is something instinctual and gratifying about it. Since we have been paring down what we own as much as we can, this is a weirdly cathartic outlet, to be able to go somewhere and buy whatever we ... Read More...
  • Etsy Shop is Open! February 16, 2015 Kelly and I have been having a ton of fun hitting the thrift stores in Chicago. I decided to open an Etsy shop to be able to sell some of the gems we have found here in Chicago, and I have high hopes of populating the store with interesting things we find in our upcoming travels.  Check it out here Read More...
  • It’s a No. February 14, 2015 Finally heard back from my work about my proposal to work remotely. I got a firm and resounding no. This is disappointing for a number of reasons, most notably a) holy sh*t I am going to be jobless and penniless and oh my god I actually WILL be living in a van down by the ... Read More...

    Hi Anna & Kelly,
LOVED reading your blog! I went to lunch with Kelly’s mom Rachel today and she told me about your blog. I am your Second Cousin Once Removed.. My dad, Jay Saks, and your Grandfather Jackie were first cousins. Your mom and I are second cousins.I have a son your same age Jared, and a daughter Jaime who is 28. They are your third cousins! If you make it to South Florida, I would love to get together! Enjoy every minute of your journey! It is something I never had the opportunity to do, however, I plan to do it in the next few years!!!

    Hi Anna,
I was shooting new videos with the RV Geeks last week and they had to share your Instagram photos with me and your adventures. I just wanted to introduce myself. I am Tyler with Tough Top Awning. Good for you and welcome to the RV lifestyle.
If you ever make it back to the West Coast we would be happy to replace your Patio awning fabric and maybe have the RV Geeks shoot a video on it. We also, don’t charge anything when we shoot videos as it take 10 time as long to do it.
    Safe Travels
