Small House Big World

In March of 2015, I left Chicago and hit the road full-time in a 1993 Pace Arrow RV with my boyfriend Kelly. In February of 2016, Kelly and I decided to amicably part ways, but I didn’t want to give up the RV lifestyle I’d come to love, so I decided to GO ROGUE and go solo! This site is meant to be a journal of my adventures as a full time traveler.  For more about me, check here

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Waiting: February in Chicago February 7, 2015 Right now Kelly and I are in limbo waiting for everything to kick off with the RV stuff. It is a tough place to be. Our beautiful Pace Arrow is braving the elements in storage in Michigan. Having to buy a fun new toy and then immediately put it back in the closet for 4 ... Read More...
  • Getting Rid of Things February 7, 2015 I have heard before that throwing things away can help you clean up not only your physical space but your mental space as well. I have absolutely found this to be true. I didn’t realize that all my old t-shirts and ill-fitting jeans were on my mind in any capacity until they were gone. You don’t realize ... Read More...
  • Max the Adventuring Wonder-Dog February 4, 2015 As much as I love the RV life, no one loves it as much as Max. Sure, his home is smaller, but the WALKS man, the walks. He loves nothing more than hiking and running around outside like a lunatic, splashing through puddles and streams and finding disgusting things to put in his mouth. His excitement ... Read More...
  • Holy Sh*t I’m Driving a Living Room January 26, 2015 At the time of our RV purchase, Kelly did not have his driver’s license, as he hadn’t needed to drive while living Chicago with its glorious public transit options (or… Uber). When it came time to purchase the RV, Kelly tried to obtain a new license, but due to some unforeseen bureaucratic issues with the ... Read More...
  • Ann Arbor Bar and Restaurant Reviews January 3, 2015 Ann Arbor is a great food town. The Main Street area in particular is a highlight. You can walk down Main Street and pick from a whole host of good restaurants. Below I have discussed Gratzi, but there are many more.  1. Zingerman’s Deli Zingerman’s is a world-famous deli in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They specialize in sourcing high-quality goods ... Read More...
  • About Anna & Kelly January 1, 2015 When Kelly and I first met, we discovered we both had latent desires to make an escape from our normal lives. I wanted to go backpacking and camping with my dog, Max, for an extended period of time. Kelly had thoughts of world travel – heading wherever the wind took him. We happened upon the ... Read More...
  • Cleaning and Making it Ours December 26, 2014 Kelly and I have spent the past few days with the RV parked in my parents’ driveway.  We have been intermittently cleaning the inside and outside, trouble shooting problems that arise, and just generally spending some time in it. We have had some funny “problems” come up:  The heating doesn’t work! (Oh, this little switch ... Read More...
  • In All It’s Glory. December 24, 2014 On December 22nd 2014, Kelly and I became the new owners of a 1993 Pace Arrow by Fleetwood. According to Fleetwood, this model is “the leading edge of refinement”. After a very thorough scouring of internet listings across Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan, Kelly and I found our new home.  You can see the final stages of decision-making process ... • Chicago Restaurant Favorites December 10, 2014 I have spent 8 years living in Chicago and have few favorite places I would love to share them with anyone who is willing to listen.  Piece Pizza –  Pizza place with a brewery and a loud bar atmosphere.  Kelly and I can’t go here without a) getting a little tipsy and b) eating insane amounts of pizza. This place ... Read More...
  • Finding The One: The Top 5 and Price Tiers December 4, 2014 After my previous post on the top candidates for our Class A motor home, I did another round of culling the option pool further.  My goal was to get the list to 10 units, with a clear preference within each price tier ( <10, 10-15,15-20,20+).  I made a grid with the units broken down by ... Hi Anna & Kelly,
LOVED reading your blog! I went to lunch with Kelly’s mom Rachel today and she told me about your blog. I am your Second Cousin Once Removed.. My dad, Jay Saks, and your Grandfather Jackie were first cousins. Your mom and I are second cousins.I have a son your same age Jared, and a daughter Jaime who is 28. They are your third cousins! If you make it to South Florida, I would love to get together! Enjoy every minute of your journey! It is something I never had the opportunity to do, however, I plan to do it in the next few years!!!

    Hi Anna,
I was shooting new videos with the RV Geeks last week and they had to share your Instagram photos with me and your adventures. I just wanted to introduce myself. I am Tyler with Tough Top Awning. Good for you and welcome to the RV lifestyle.
If you ever make it back to the West Coast we would be happy to replace your Patio awning fabric and maybe have the RV Geeks shoot a video on it. We also, don’t charge anything when we shoot videos as it take 10 time as long to do it.
    Safe Travels
