Towing an RV with an RV

Kelly Reid • November 21, 2014

This is an idea we (and by “we” I mean “I”) came up with while discussing car towing options and Class A vs Truck+Trailer. I said “why don’t we tow a Class B or small camper behind our Class A?”.   She answered, “because that’s the worst idea I’ve ever heard”. Well, not to split hairs, but there have been worse ideas spoken aloud. Just not many of them.

I think we’ll stick with Class A + Sedan Car flat-towed, but we’re still investigating options.  Look for a future blog post about the decision-making process.

So you can RV while you're RVing.

So you can RV while you’re RVing.

A handshake’s a deal. No givesy-backsies.

A Smart Fortwo is 2.69 meters long. A Winnebago is 2.45 meters wide. I picture mounting it on the back like a bike rack. Only problem is you’ll really screw up the wieght distribution. More traction in snow, but will the front wheels stay on the ground?

This is one time I’d almost be in favor of a couple small motorcycles instead of a car. Towing is a PITA.
